Let’s Hack!

We’re hosting tonight’s event in advance of launching our new tool, The Movement Map. The Movement Map is a dynamic organizing tool to connect and facilitate networks of people making an impact, and this Hackathon is a data collection marathon to fill it with reputable climate-focused organizations and get it ready for launch. Thanks for showing up to help build the resistance!

How to Hack

  1. Pick a HackTag! When you sign-in, you’ll be asked to come up with a HackTag. A HackTag can be any username we can use to track your Movement Map submissions. Be as funny or creative as you want! Some of our HackTags are Katalyst, Doomscroller, and Jart.

  2. Fill the Map! The Submission Form on Movement-Map.us is the main way you’ll be interacting with the database tonight. To submit an org to the database, simply enter its information into the form as asked. It will be helpful to have an organization’s website or social media page pulled up to identify the relevant information. Please pay particular attention to the Organization Attributes section, as these data points will affect the search results. Remember to add your HackTag to every submission to level up on the LeaderBoard!

Input as many orgs as you know of! If you run out, don’t worry, let one of the people in orange tshirts know - there’s plenty of things to do!

  3. Improve the Map! When in the course of hacking events you think of a way we could improve our database, filters, map, or submission criteria, use the Hacks, Bugs, Errors {{BETA}} Form to log them. There are prizes for top feedback submitters as well as top org submitters, so be sure to think critically!
